Settle into your seat this fall and winter for new movies near San Montego. At Houston movie theaters, fans of Martin Scorsese, Sherlock Holmes, “Mission: Impossible,” and The Adventures of Tin Tin will love these new movies based on beloved characters and magical stories.
- Hugo: This Martin Scorsese film opens in theaters November 23 starring Asa Butterfield (“The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”), Chloe Grace Moretz (“Let Me In”), Christopher Lee (“Lord of the Rings”), Ben Kingsley (Shutter Island), and Sacha Baron Cohen (“Talladega Nights”). Showing in 3D, the visually fascinating movie follows an orphaned boy in Paris as he lives at a train station and solves a mystery left behind by his father. Rolling Stone calls it a movie not to miss.
- Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows: This second part in the new Sherlock Holmes films opens in theaters December 16. The film once again stars Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes, Jude Law as Dr. Watson and Rachel McAdams. Once again, the story follows the arrogant, brawling and clamorous hero through slow-motion explosions, dark and chilly Europe, constant combat, and a mystery with the world at stake. If you enjoyed the masculine humor, captivating action scenes and boisterous tone in the first film, you’ll want to see this one.
- Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol: The fourth installment in the “Mission: Impossible” series, this winter flick (opening everywhere December 21) could be a hit or miss like its predecessors, but movie critics previewing the flick say this one should be a winner. Actors Jeremy Renner (“The Town”), Paula Patton (“Deja Vu”) and Tom Wilkinson (“Batman Begins”) join Tom Cruise and other regulars on another whirlwind, twisting and turning ride through the world of spies. Ethan and his IMF team set out to prove the organization’s innocence against blame for a bombing, with high tech gadgets, death-defying action, suspenseful close calls, and a rockin’ soundtrack.
- The Adventures of Tin Tin: The well known comics come to life under director Steven Spielberg in this film opening everywhere on December 21. The film stars Jamie Bell (“Jumper”), Andy Serkis (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”) and Daniel Craig. Fun for all ages, this Nickelodeon movie features animation much like “The Polar Express” and characters on the run as they unravel a mystery. See the characters soar out of the screen in 3D.
